WEEK 32 -

Total Exposures Filmed 148,382 to date, BUT WHO IS COUNTING?
We are going to post a running total of the number of exposures that we have taken. It will help us and you understand the progress that we are making.

THE LAST TWO WEEKS IN SUMMARY

Work with the new Elders
This is a unique old barn that we pass regularly on
Route 66 (locally referred to as the " Mother Road").
The peak of the roof is bowed like the stern of a ship.
We have been out with the new Elders regularly.  We had them over for dinner on Saturday evening. These guys can really eat. Of course, we made the food good enough that they could not resist. We went with them to make some visits.

Grandma is teaching the newest member of the Ward how to do FamilySearch Indexing.  She does this while Grandpa is in his weekly meeting with the High Priest Group Leadership.  When we get through with our meeting we go out to make visits too less active members.

Micofilming
These are the name plates that we wear during the day
while filming.
We are really getting in the filming groove now.  In the last two weeks we have produced more exposures than we did in our first 2 months of filming.   Last Wednesday we broke our previous daily record of 2,350 exposures when we flimed 2,542 exposures.  Our evaluations have also shown that our speed is accompanied by high quality filming.

This is Grandma's Mothers Day and Grandpa's Father's
Day gifts. to each other. The most serious and frequent
injuries occur to the head during a tornado.  We are sure that
you are thinking that we wear these around our apartment most
of the time.  Actually, we dawn these helmets only when
siting in our tub during a tornado.  That is amusing enough to
think about.

Although this post is sort of dominated by the hazards of Oklahoma,  we are including this information to let you know that we are being cautious.  We are not paranoid.  We are cheerfully prepared.   It is tornado season in this part of the country from April through June.  A very small portion of our time is spent tracking the threat of damaging hail, tornados, and scorpions.  But, when we get alerts were do not ignore them.  A friend of ours told us, last week, that he has lived here for 32 years and never even seen a tornado.  Saturday night Grandpa was awakened 8 times from 12:00 am to about 2:30 am by our weather radio which broadcasts National Weather Service alerts. I got up every time and listened to the alerts to determine if there was a real threat to us. Thankfully, none were.   Tonight, we have a repeat of the same, with some tornados forming in western Oklahoma headed our way.  The weather radio alarm is set to only alerts us when the potential exists for damage in our city or county.
During storm events, the local TV stations have weather alerts
that are displayed in the corner of the screen during regular
programming.
We planned to not have a TV while on
our mission.  However, President Taylor
encouraged all senior missionaries to
have a television for tracking weather.
It has been very helpful to us, but also
a bit of a distraction for Grandpa.
Kaden has accussed me of slowing
down  the blogging because of the TV.

Grandpa found this smashed
scorpion in the back of the our
car.  He was either alive and I
sat something on him or he was
on the bottom of a box that we put
in the car.  After I had taken this
photo, I found his detached stinger
in the car also.

ONLY IN OKLAHOMA

You know you are from Utah if you buy your wardrobe at the local grocery superstore.
You know you are from Oklahoma if Carhart is the pinnacle of men’s and women’s fashion.
