Week of Training

This week we started our training in our apartment.  It was an intense week of learning about our equipment, photographic technics, and principles of microfilming.  We learned that the State of Oklahoma requires that we microfilm while some other states are allowing digital photography.  The church will phase out microfilming in 2012. We felt overwhelmed with all we have to learn, but we know that, in time, we will become effective in this work.  In this photo, our supervisor is explaining the settup of the camera, tripod, lights and electronic controls.  Judy is taking notes and we recorded about  20 hours of video on our IPAD for future reference.  

Judy is not sleeping.  She is studiously watching a stop watch that we use to time the development phases of our test film.  The temperature of the chemicals and proper timing are required on the charts taped to our cupboards.

This is our living room at the end of the week after we packed up the equipment ready to move to the Lincoln County Courthouse in Chandler next week.

Grandpa went cat fishing  with our neighbor Paul Reading, our ward elders quorum president. I did not have a license since a non-resident license costs $55.00.  Paul caught a catfish and about 8 perch.  We had the catfish for dinner at his home the other night.  It was delicious. There were as many snakes (water moccasins) and turtles in the water as there were fish.  Saturday morning he caught 2 turtles and no fish.  While I went fishing Judy went to a Relief Society Visiting Teaching meeting with Kim (RS Pres.), Paul's wife.  

While fishing, I discovered that as soon as the

from the trees.  The dot on the photo is not 

debris on my lens.  It is a spider desending 

from above with a body about the size of a

quarter.  

The calm and beauty at sunset on the water was awesome.

We found a great place to exercise and walk here in Chandler.  The Cemetery.  For the size of this town it is a huge cemetery.  It is beautiful with lots of oak trees.  I calculated on google earth that there are about 3 miles of roads.  The solitude is great and none of the residents give you any lip.  

We happened upon an armadillo along the edge of the road at the cemetery.  Even the mother of this animal must look at it with disgust.
